Tooth Wear Roadmap

Practical, hands-on courses for clinicians who want a systematic approach to tooth wear - and the confidence to use it on Monday morning.

Presented by Dr Andrea Shepperson and Dr Alistair Graham

Standalone courses. A complete foundation for tooth wear.

Why Choose A Roadmap?

Most dentists recognise tooth wear and still have many questions, without a reliable framework for managing this common oral health challenge. The Roadmap exists to fix that. Each course is self-contained and immediately applicable - there is no required sequence. Start with the course that solves the problem in front of you right now.

Diagnosis to Design

From first assessment to digital treatment plan — a complete two-day system.

The gap between seeing tooth wear and knowing what to do about it is where most dentists lose confidence. This course closes that gap. You will leave with a complete diagnostic and design workflow - from clinical records and risk assessment through to Digital Smile Design, mockups, and case communication. Co-presented with Dr Alistair Graham.

Diagnosis and Records

  • A systematic approach to tooth wear diagnosis and risk stratification

  • Photography and documentation that supports treatment planning

  • Identifying aetiology: erosion, attrition, abrasion, and combined wear

  • Medical comorbidities: reflux, sleep-disordered breathing, diet

Patient Communication

  • Communicating with specialists and the lab in a digital workflow

  • Communicating findings to patients: building understanding and trust

  • Design, mockups, and case presentation

  • Presenting complex treatment plans with clarity and confidence

Hands-on

  • Digital Smile Design principles and software in clinical practice

  • Designing and testing a DSD mock-up in the mouth

  • 3D printed shell mockups and aesthetic test drives

  • Hands-on DSD App design exercise

  • Silicone index for the mock-up — make your own

This course can be taken as a standalone or as part of the Roadmap series alongside Occlusion: The Missing Link. Dentists who complete Roadmap courses and go on to the Masterclass consistently arrive better prepared and get more from the week.

"The Roadmap series lays the essential foundation - clear principles, terminology, diagnostic frameworks, and a structured way of thinking about occlusion that immediately helps you organise what you see clinically." Past Roadmap attendee

Occlusion: The Missing Link

The clinical foundation for every tooth wear case.

About this course

Occlusion is the subject most dentists know they should understand better — and few feel they actually do. It sits behind unexplained post-operative sensitivity, failing restorations, recurring splint problems, and patients who present with wear patterns that don't make sense. And yet it rarely gets the dedicated, practical attention it deserves.

This two-day course gives you a clear, usable framework for occlusal assessment and management. Not theory for theory's sake. A system you can apply from the first patient back — whether you are managing a simple veneer case, rebuilding a worn dentition, or finally getting to the bottom of a patient who keeps breaking things.

Co-presented by Dr Andrea Shepperson and Dr Alistair Graham, with guest input from two of Australia's most experienced dental ceramists. 12 CPD hours.

What you'll cover:

  • Functional occlusion and how to assess it clinically

  • Dysfunction and unhealthy ways patients use their teeth

  • TMD: current trends and treatment concepts

  • Sleep and awake bruxism: current research and guidelines

  • Managing changes to vertical dimension

  • Splint design, materials, and indications

  • Occlusion and implants: what you need to know

  • Leaf Gauge, Lucia Jig, and deprogramming techniques

  • Finding centric relation — reviewing techniques

  • 3D printed provisionals for vertical stabilisation

  • How to equilibrate a bite

  • Modjaw, T-Scan, and digital scans in occlusal assessment

  • How orthodontics plays a role

  • Communicating occlusal issues to patients

The Roadmap and the Masterclass

The Roadmap courses and the Tooth Wear Masterclass are designed for different moments. The Roadmap is where you build the clinical foundations — course by course, at a manageable investment. The Masterclass is where you put everything together in one immersive week on Waiheke Island.

Many dentists complete one or two Roadmap courses first and come to the Masterclass when they are ready to go deeper. The credit policy means your Roadmap investment is not separate from your Masterclass investment - it is part of it.

NZD $1,500 credit per completed Roadmap course is applied to the Masterclass fee when you register within 12 months. Contact Emma at admin@andreashepperson.com to apply your credit at the time of registration.

"Doing the Roadmap Occlusion course first made the Masterclass so much more powerful - I arrived already understanding the language and concepts, which meant every lecture, demo, and hands-on session had more impact."Past attendee, Tooth Wear Roadmap
